Job description

The Center for Contextual Psychiatry is a multidisciplinary and internationally-oriented research center, widely recognized for its expertise in the design, application, and analysis of studies and clinical trials using digital mobile health (mHealth) tools in the context of Mental Health research. The CCP is headed by prof. Inez Myin-Germeys, and a part of the Department of Neurosciences in the School of Medicine at KU Leuven, one of the most renowned research universities in Europe. The CCP currently consists of 25 researchers from a wide range of backgrounds (psychology, psychiatry, statistics, philosophy, movement sciences etc), offering a supportive and stimulating environment for cutting-edge research.

Project
Within thisproject, we will perform clinical trials of the feasibility, acceptability andefficacy of mHealth tools for improved management of mental disorders. Using anapp and wearables with a digital dashboard, patients can self-assess theirfunctioning and course of symptoms, and provide insight into it to the theirclinicians who can use this information to personalise their treatment. As partof this project we will also perform in-depth analyses of the Belgian andEuropean healthcare systems, and help design a roadmap for wider implementationof digital mHealth in Europe. The PhD candidate will have a central role inthis project, particularly in the coordination of clinical trials that willrequire cooperation with clinicians, hospitals, other research institutes,software and data science companies. Backgrounds and strong interest in publichealth, digital health and/or (clinical) psychology are an advantage.

Requirements

Backgrounds and strong interest in public health, digital health and/or (clinical) psychology are an advantage. The candidate has good command of English (written and oral), command of Dutch is an advantage.

Conditions of employment

Salaries for PhD students are competitive by international standards. A contract for one year will be offered, which is renewable for another three years after positive evaluation. Starting date is flexible but no later than September 2019.
