What you are going to do
A Managing Editor is required to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Amsterdam Satellite of Cochrane Work in collaboration with the editorial base in Kuopio (https://work.cochrane.org/). The candidate will be responsible for managing the editorial processes for systematic review preparation and publication. This involves providing specialized editorial and methodological support to systematic review authors, managing the process of peer review, maintaining communication between the editorial team members, submitting reviews and protocols to the publisher, maintaining the website, and representing Cochrane Work to all relevant individuals and agencies.

The satellite’s editorial base location will be at the Coronel Institute of Occupational Health at Amsterdam UMC, Academic Medical Center (AMC), University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The Coronel Institute of Occupational Health is the Netherlands’ largest university department in the field of Occupational Health. Subjects of research include the prevention, etiology, assessment and treatment or supervision of diseases that are related to work and work ability. The Coronel Institute collaborates with various university departments in and outside the Netherlands that conduct research in the field of Occupational Health and Insurance Medicine.

The position is for 14.4 hours a week (2 days a week).

What we expect from you
The ideal applicant will be educated to degree level or above related to evidence based health care (such as health sciences, psychology or medicine) with managerial, administrative, scientific or publishing experience or equivalent, along with excellent organizational and communication skills. The applicant will have a PhD in a relevant area.

The applicant wil have knowledge and/or experience with clinical trials and (Cochrane) systematic reviews and its methods such as GRADE or risk of bias assessment. Good English language skills are a prerequisite and statistical expertise, experience with meta-analyses and skills in searching medical databases are desirable.

• The maximum gross monthly salary based on a 36-hour work week is € 4,361 (scale 10 CAO UMC).
• The base salary does not include allowances for irregular shifts, holiday pay (8%) and a year-end bonus (8.3%).
• We initially offer an appointment for 9-12 months, with the prospect of a permanent appointment upon good performance.
• In addition to excellent accessibility by public transport, AMC location also has a sufficient number of parking spaces for employees.
• Pension is accrued at the ABP. Amsterdam UMC, AMC location contributes a large part of the premium (70%).

Where you are going to work
The position will be based at Coronel Institute of Occupational Health, Amsterdam UMC, location AMC, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. You will be responsible to the Deputy Coordinating Editor of the Cochrane Work Review Group (CRG) located at the AMC in the Netherlands. The focus of the Amsterdam Satellite is work participation, which means reviews evaluating the effectiveness of interventions aiming to help people return to work after they have been taken ill or they have sustained an injury.
