A better future for everyone. That ambition motivates our scientists in their top research and in providing inspiring education. At
Utrecht University, various disciplines work closely together on socially important themes. Our focus is on Dynamics of Youth, Institutions for Open Societies, Life Sciences and Sustainability.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is the only institution in the Netherlands that trains veterinarians. Researchers also work together on innovative, scientific research on the themes One Health, One Medicine and Veterinary Biomedicine. Moreover, the Faculty provides specialist clinical care in the largest academic animal hospital in Europe: the University Veterinary Center Utrecht. Attention to disease, health and welfare of the animal and its environment forms the basis under the three pillars of our faculty: education, research and animal health care. The Faculty counts approximately 1,500 students and 900 employees.
Our Small Animal Veterinary Department provides a wide variety of clinical cases in terms of species, pathology and procedures for the intern to gain experience of the practical and theoretical aspects of veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia. Journal clubs, tutorials and lecture presentations are regularly held in all aspects of anaesthesia, analgesia and other relevant topics.
