Job description

The assistant professor has both teaching (60%) and research responsibilities (40%). You will coordinate two courses: a second-year course in cognitive psychology and a third-year course in Language and Brain. In addition, you will supervise bachelor and masters theses. Your research interests are in the area of language and cognition, preferably involving behavioral research.  Experience with data science methods (e.g., text mining) will be considered a plus. The position is initially for four years.

Requirements

  • You have a Ph.D. in psychology or a related discipline;
  • you are conducting behavioral research on language and cognition and are building a strong publication track record in this area;
  • you are motivated to submit a VENI proposal;
  • you are, preferably, familiar with data science methods;
  • you are capable of teaching courses in cognitive psychology and psychology of language;
  • you are, preferably, familiar with problem-based learning;
  • you have good social skills and are able to motivate students;
  • you hold a Dutch Teaching Qualification (BKO) or are willing to acquire this qualification in the near future.

Your initial employment term will be 4 years. Your remuneration will depend on the position, your specific knowledge and experience It will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between EUR 3637,- and 5656,- gross per year (salary scale 11/12, CAO NU ). Erasmus University Rotterdam offers attractive terms of employment, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end payment of 8.3% and 41 annual leave days in case of a full work week. Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB)
