As a PhD Candidate you will conduct research in the project ‘Living Lab Sustainable Supply Chain Management in Healthcare’ (SSCMH), a joint research project between the Institute for Management Research of Radboud University and the Faculty of Engineering of HAN University of Applied Sciences and other partners. The project is funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO). 

The project investigates sustainable healthcare logistics, especially last-mile solutions. It will make use of two living labs to support the creation, development and implementation of next-generation concepts. By working closely with all related stakeholders and using a transdisciplinary research approach we ensure that the developed knowledge and solutions deliver a contribution to societal challenges and, at the same time, have sound business potential. This PhD project will focus on how a fair allocation of resources and benefits can be organised in this multi-stakeholder context, how value is created and captured, which business model concepts are appropriate, and how long-term collaboration and stability can be achieved.

Your task will be to conduct research, predominately through applying qualitative research procedures in the two living labs, to contribute to the overall interdisciplinary research collaboration, to write scientific articles, and to complete a PhD thesis in time. You will also participate in conferences, workshops and other scholarly and valorisation activities.

• A Master’s degree, preferably a Research Master’s degree, in Business, Organisation Studies, Sociology, or a related field.
• Academic excellence, as demonstrated by grade transcripts and CV.
• Relevant research experience and an interest in translating research ideas and findings for the benefit of non-academic stakeholders (e.g. managers and policymakers).
• A solid understanding of qualitative research procedures.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and proficiency in Dutch.
• The ability to work both independently and as a team player in an interdisciplinary context.
• The ability to finish your PhD thesis in time, i.e. strong skills in project management; flexibility, proactive behaviour and excellent academic writing skills.

Fixed-term contract: you will be appointed for an initial period of 18 months, after which your performance will be evaluated. If the evaluation is positive, the contract will be extended by 2.5 years (4 year contract).

• Employment: 40 hours per week.
• The gross starting salary amounts to €2,325 per month, and will increase to €2,972 in the fourth year (salary scale P).
• In addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
• Duration of the contract: You will be appointed for an initial period of 18 months, after which your performance will be evaluated. If the evaluation is positive, the contract will be extended by 2.5 years (4 year contract).

You will be part of the Institute for Management Research (IMR) at Radboud University. The IMR aims to create knowledge for society and carries out state-of-the-art research into complex problems of governance and management in order to explain the causes of these problems, and to use that knowledge to create potential solutions.

You will be part of the Chair of Organisational Development and Design and will be jointly supervised by Prof. Lauche, Dr Blazevic (Marketing) and Dr Ziggers (Strategy).
