Job description

The Computer Science Departments of the EEMCS Faculty of TU Delft invite applications for multiple Assistant (Tenure Track) or Associate Professor faculty positions. Successful candidates are expected to establish an independent research line in an emerging area in computer science that adds synergistically to our current research portfolio. We solicit applications from all computer science disciplines, with a preference for research that fits within the following areas:

  1. Decision support;
    focussing on devising, implementing and evaluating fundamental (classical and data-intensive) AI to improve the machine-level processes of planning, scheduling, negotiation, user-adaptation and user-harmonization.

  2. Data visualization and integration;
    focussing on data science disciplines that enable humans to get insight into and to analyse complex (big, unstructured, distributed, heterogeneous, web) data, and into the AI decisions, actions and their consequences.

  3. Software systems engineering;
    developing new ways to safeguard key quality attributes of complex software systems, such as robustness, reliability, and evolvability. It combines foundational (e.g. program semantics), empirical (software analytics), and AI (model learning, search-based software engineering) research.

  4. Distributed and Networked Systems;
    aiming at devising, implementing and analysing fundamental algorithmic and systems concepts for distributed and networked systems, such as peer-to-peer systems, reputation systems, IoT and blockchain technology.

Candidates are expected to offer an inspirational contribution to the faculty’s educational programmes, such as the Bachelor Computer Science and Engineering and the Masters in Computer Science and Embedded Systems. The departments seek to continuously improve and innovate their educational offerings, for example through blended online and on campus learning.

We offer a competitive starting package including one funded PhD student, excellent hardware and software facilities, adequate travel funds, and strong teaching support both through our highly qualified teaching team and  through a large pool of enthusiastic teaching assistants.

Excellently qualified and more senior researchers are invited to respond as well and will be offered a rank in accordance with their experience. Dutch language skills are not required. We especially welcome applications from female scientists.

The Computer Science departments seek to become more inclusive -- for students, researchers, teachers, and anyone interacting with our departments. To that end, the departments have been instrumental in setting up the EEMCS Diversity and Inclusion Team (EDIT). All candidates are requested to submit a statement about the contributions they wish to make to strengthen diversity and inclusion of Computer Science at TU Delft.
