Job description

The Department of International and European Law of the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University intends to appoint one fulltime (0,8-1,0 fte) and one part-time (0,3-0,5 fte) assistant Professor in Intellectual Property Law (Universitair Docent) with a starting date of 1 January 2020, or earlier if possible. Applicants must have expertise in Intellectual Property Law (patents, trade marks, copyright and designs). The appointee will be required to teach in the English language at master level and at advanced level in the masters Intellectual Property and Knowledge Management (LL.M and MSc), to contribute to the development and execution of courses for professionals in Europe (e.g. EQE-training, patent litigation certificate, etc.) and Asia, to conduct high quality research within the Institute for Globalisation and International Regulation, to write research and funding proposals and to fulfill administrative duties.

Requirements

-          PhD degree obtained in Intellectual Property Law (or manuscript approved); or
-          PhD degree obtained in science and technology with a degree in law. The
            ambition to write a succinct second PhD in IP law will be considered favourably;
            and
-          Excellent research and teaching skills;
-          Excellent organisational skills;
-          Excellent English language skills (written and spoken);
-          Availability to travel.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 5 year.

The appointment as University Lecturer will be for an initial period of five years with the possibility for extension based on target agreements. The salary depends on academic qualifications and experience. The salary is likely to be set in salary scale 11 of the CAO, with a minimum gross month salary of € 3.637,00 and a maximum gross month salary of € 4.978,00.
