Job description

We are looking for an assistant education manager to help improve the quality of our education. Are you passionate for education innovation and improvement and able to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a developing and hardworking setting? Then we are looking for you!

You are a dynamic, dedicated young professional who can provide general assistance with education management across the section, streamline education support and innovation. You will be assisting in courses like: tutorials, working groups and excursions as well as coordination of thesis and internship. Your general education tasks will be maintaining a thesis database and supervision of exams.
Another important part of this position is to assist in developing and implementing continuous learning lines and learning trajectories within the bachelor programmes (e.g. academic skills). Therefor you will assist in developing plans for education innovation and help building new online courses such as MOOCs or other forms of online education.

Requirements

To further strengthen our section, you:
  • have a (recent) Msc in anthropology, sociology, geography, or a related field;
  • have good didactic qualities and teaching experience in and enthusiasm for teaching and working with students;
  • have an ambition for developing teaching modules and further professionalisation of education;
  • love to work in interdisciplinary and international education teams and settings;
  • are an excellent communicator and writer;
  • have affinity with (some of) the broad fields in which our section is active: health, food, (rural and urban) development, political ecology, crisis and disaster studies.

Conditions of employment

We offer an employment contract for 0,6 FTE (24 hours a week) for initially the period of 1 year, with the possibility of extension. This vacancy stays a temporary position from November 2019-November 2024.
Depending on your experience you will receive a competitive salary from a minimum of € 2.835,- to a maximum of € 3.895,- for a full working week of 38 hours in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement Dutch Universities (scale 9). In addition, we offer:
  • 8% holiday allowance;
  • a structural year-end bonus of 8.3%;

  • flexible working hours and holidays can possibly be determined in consultation so that an optimal balance between work and private life is possible;
