Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc to unravel how timing influences decision making in realistic task settings. The postdoc will set up and supervise empirical studies using novel experimental paradigms to assess how fluctuations in subjective timing influence the weighting of evidence and thus partially drive decision making. This position is part of prof. Van Rijn’s Vici project “Continuative Timing: Functional and Neurobiological Explanations of Interval Timing in the Real World”, in collaboration with dr. Van Maanen (University of Amsterdam). You will be located at the University of Groningen, but will work closely with and regularly visit the Van Maanen Lab at the University of Amsterdam.

Requirements

The postdoc is expected to have experience in either mathematical modeling or advanced neuroscience techniques to supplement behavioural studies.

Furthermore, you have:

- a PhD degree in cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, computational cognitive neuroscience, mathematical psychology or a related field
- experience with advanced quantitative analyses
- affinity with neuroscience and/or computational/mathematical modeling
- relevant publication(s)
- excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 24 months.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary of € 3.255,- gross per month for a full-time position (salary scale 10.4)
- excellent secondary terms of employment
- a position for 32-40 hours a week
- a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income and an 8.3% year-end bonus
- 232 holiday hours per calendar year for full-time employment
- participation in a pension scheme for employees.

The appointment is temporary for a specified period of two years. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible.
