Job description

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the group of Dr. Sander J. Wezenberg at the Leiden Institute of Chemistry of the Faculty of Science. The candidate will develop new molecular switching motifs and anion receptor types. The project requires a variety of approaches ranging from multi-step organic synthesis, binding and switching studies, to membrane transport assays.

Requirements

  • Applicants should have a PhD in Chemistry (or have submitted their thesis before the start date);
  • The ideal candidate will have a solid background in organic synthesis and molecular recognition. Experience with molecular switches and molecular modelling is preferred but not required;
  • Effective communication skills to supervise and train junior researchers in the laboratory is a must;
  • The candidate is encouraged to apply for independent fellowships that will support their future career development.
  • The position is available immediately; The candidate should start no later than March 2020.

Conditions of employment

We offer a full-time, one year term position, with the possibility of renewal for up to three more years depending on the performance. Salary range from €2,709.-  to €4,274.- gross per month (pay scale 10 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
