Leiden University, Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research, Division Drug Discovery and Safety of the Faculty of Science are looking for a Postdoctoral fellowship SLC transport proteins

Job description

The position is placed within an European IMI consortium to study solute carriers (SLCs) and develop assays for this intriguing and understudied class of transport proteins. The candidate should have a strong background and expertise in biochemistry and molecular pharmacology. The fellowship offers an exciting opportunity to perform collaborative research in an extremely knowledgeable community of academic and industrial partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Analysis and study of solute carriers in a variety of approaches;
  • Development of solute carrier assays, also in medium-to-high throughput;
  • Reporting of results at project meetings and conferences;
  • Publication of results in high-quality peer-reviewed journals;
  • Supervision of BSc and MSc thesis projects and teaching assistance during courses;
  • Contribution to ongoing projects of PhD students.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in a relevant discipline, typically biochemistry/molecular pharmacology/cell physiology;
  • Proven track record of scientific writing and presenting;
  • Knowledgeable in chemistry;
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English;
  • Team player who is pro-active, well-organized and knows how to manage time.

Conditions of employment

We offer a postdoc position of 0.8 – 1.0 FTE, for initially one year, with the possibility of renewal depending on performance. Salary ranges from €2,709.- to €4,274.- gross per month (pay scale 10 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
