Job description

The YUFE Institutional Coordinator is the main institutional point of contact and a key player for every YUFE full partner institution.

As the YUFE Institutional Coordinator at UM, you will be responsible for the timely facilitation and effective local implementation of YUFE activities, with particular attention to the YUFE activities led by UM. You will be responsible for the operational coordination of the administrative and academic engagement of UM in the YUFE project, and for the dissemination of relevant information within the UM community, including the government, businesses, and the local community.

The YUFE Institutional Coordinator is a pivotal and central actor linking UM and the YUFE Project Management Team, chaired by the YUFE Director Dr. Daniela Trani. Alongside the institutional YUFE Strategy Board representative (President or Rector), the YUFE Coordinator functions as the face of YUFE at the institution and will act as an inspiring ambassador to local students, staff, and external stakeholders.

The YUFE Coordinator at UM:

  • Is a core team member of the YUFE Management Office;
  • Coordinates the effective implementation of the YUFE activities led by UM;
  • Chairs the YUFE Taskforce meetings for the initiative’s work package led by UM;
  • Functions as the central point of contact for questions about the YUFE alliance at UM;
  • Guides and facilitates the institutional experts and student representatives in their YUFE-tasks;
  • Regularly reports on the progress of the implementation of work package activities to the UM Strategy Board representative (Rector or President) and the YUFE Director;
  • Organises regular information sessions to involve relevant institutional stakeholders and students;
  • Reports, on behalf of UM, to the YUFE Project Management Team chaired by the YUFE Director;
  • Advises the YUFE Strategy Board representative on matters relevant to UM’s role in the work package implementation and related local/national policy developments;
  • Reports to and advises the YUFE Director on administrative and financial processes related to the relevant (UM-led) work package;
  • Writes regular work package progress reports and contributes to presentations for the YUFE Strategy Board and the annual YUFE Town hall convention;
  • In coordination with the institutional YUFE Strategy Board representative and the YUFE Director, maintains the relationship with the local and regional government involved in the YUFE activities.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an outstanding individual with a hands-on mentality. You are, or are able to quickly adapt to becoming, well-connected within the institution and equipped with excellent social and communication skills. You are able to, effectively coordinate policy implementation within UM, to perform advisory functions for the YUFE Strategy Board representative, and to report to the YUFE Director and the wider alliance. The successful candidate has:

  • A relevant academic qualification (at least a master’s degree or equivalent);
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Higher Education in an international setting;
  • Experience of working with, and influencing, senior university management at the Executive Board level or equivalent;
  • Ability to coordinate intercultural and interdisciplinary teams including academic and non-academic staff;
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills;
  • Awareness of current developments in national and European Higher Education and Research & Innovation policy;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills in English and at least one other European language;
  • Ability to function as an inspiring role-model for UM colleagues and students;
  • Ability to work in a small team and equipped with the required flexibility to support a wide range of activities;
  • Ability to give, receive, and process constructive feedback with the goal of both personal and team development.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year with the possibility for an extension of up to 3 years, based on a good assessment.

  • 1.0 FTE;
  • UFO function profile Project Manager, salary scale 12 CAO-NU, This implies a minimum of € 4.406,00 and a maximum of € 5.656,00 gross per month for a full-time appointment of 38 hours per week;

The Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) is the top-scoring European University alliance, selected by the European Commission to develop and implement the first true student-centered, open, and inclusive European University. The YUFE alliance is composed of eight young universities as full partners (1) and six associated partners (2) from the academic, non-governmental and private sector. Together, they hope to initiate a radical change by becoming the leading model of a student-centered, non-elitist, open, and inclusive European University. This will center on cooperation between higher education institutions, the public and private sector, and citizens.
