Material appearance touches many important aspects of modern computer graphics, such as photorealistic rendering, content creation, virtual replica and prototyping, among others. Nevertheless, precisely and efficiently capturing and representing materials is still a challenge, and new and innovative research ideas are needed to push the state-of-the-art of this exciting area forward.
