Job description

As a Research Performance Information Specialist you will be responsible for the accurate collection, registration and categorisation of high quality data on research, data management, project and impact performance at the Institute for Management Research (IMR) within the adequate registration systems, notably METIS. You will have a vital role in the provision of accurate management information about research performance to researchers and management at  the Faculty. You will also report about research performance requirements to accreditation agencies (e.g. AACSB), and external funders (e.g. NWO, H2020). You will proactively review and verify the IMR research performance data, raise queries, and monitor and maintain the integrity of the data. This requires a good understanding of the structure and configuration of METIS. Based on this knowledge and knowledge about current developments in research output registration, you will proactively propose improvements in the registration of research products such as data sets, research projects, data management plans, reporting and impact activities to ensure state-of-the-art registration.

You will also be responsible to the researchers and management at the Faculty for the interpretation of citation analyses data provided by colleagues on campus. You will actively participate in campus-wide METIS consultations and work closely with various internal stakeholders at the faculty and across university, such as researchers, the University Library, policy officers, communication officers and management teams.

Members of the IMR Research Services team provide advice and support to fellow team members during peaks to ensure a high level of services on various aspects of research management such as grants advice, graduate school coordination and research project management. We regularly provide advice to the Faculty Board on a variety of issues. As a member of the team you will participate in these activities, coordinated by the Head of the IMR Research Services team.

Requirements

  • Academic level.
  • Experience in a similar role in higher education is a plus.
  • Broad understanding of publishing practices, including open access and open science.
  • Understanding of research, project registration and impact performance instruments such as altmetrics, impact narratives, impact pathways.
  • Understanding of citation and publication impact analyses.
  • Proven experience of extracting and crosschecking data and producing accurate data reports.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and act independently in light of shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong service-orientation.
  • Ability to manage relationships effectively.
  • Good command of spoken and written Dutch and English.
  • Pro-active, result orientation.
  • Team-player: basic knowledge of or interest in activities of team members (grants advice, graduate school coordination, post-award management, impact policy, data stewardship) in order to provide collegial advice and backup.
  • If you come from a non-EU country, you must be in possession of an unlimited valid work and residence permit.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: One year, with the possibility of extension.

  • Employment: 32 hours per week.
  • A maximum gross monthly salary of € 4.274 based on a 38-hour working week (salary scale 10).
  • The exact salary depends on the candidate's qualifications and amount of relevant professional experience.
  • In addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
  • Duration of the contract: One year with the possibility of extension.
  • The intended start date is 1 March 2020.

The IMR Research Services team (at present 4.7FTEs) at the Institute for Management Research (IMR) of Radboud University, which is responsible for grants advice, graduate school coordination, the development and implementation of research and impact policy, registration of research output, quality control, research data management, research communication and secretarial support to the IMR management. For all these fields, the team has an advisory role towards the director of the research institute and the board of the Nijmegen School of Management. The team closely cooperates with various research departments, and the communication, HR and financial departments.
