Job description

Team Earth Informatics is looking for an enthusiastic candidate with experience in the field of digitization in the agri-environmental domain. In this position, your work focuses on policy support, and encouraging societal and technological changes around digitization in agriculture, food security and environment. You will support implementation and uptake of our studies, products and services and contribute to impact through a variety of activities. Examples are developing and executing integrated impact assessments to measure the impact of our research, as well as projects outside Wageningen University & Research. Furthermore, transferring our knowledge by co-developing and performing capacity building and dissemination activities with your colleagues and project partners.

The type of activities require that you are closely interacting with the often international partners and stakeholders in our projects. Furthermore, you should have a broad understanding of this domain, and particularly food security. And since much of our work is related to applying ICT, performing data science and fostering data ecosystems, affinity or experience with these fields is considered a strong advantage. You are proficient in English, with preferably an understanding of French or Spanish. You don't mind travelling for work. You are a great teammate, able to operate in teams delivering high quality results in time. Experience with acquisition of research projects is considered an advantage.

Requirements

  • MSc degree in informatics, communication or agri-environmental sciences with an emphasis on social aspects of digitization and communication;
  • Experience with (or at least strong and proven affinity with) projects in developing countries;
  • Experience in the field of digitization in the agri-environmental domain; and broad understanding of this domain, and particularly food security;
  • At least 1 - 3 years working experience;
  • Prepared to travel regularly;
  • Experience or proven affinity with applying ICT, performing data science and fostering data ecosystems is an advantage;
  • Experience with acquisition of research projects is a pro.

Conditions of employment

A challenging position for at least 32 hours a week. This is a permanent position, starting with a temporary contract. Extension of that contract depends on proven suitability and the scope of the order portfolio.
The salary is between 2675 and 4253 euro gross per month, depending on experience (scale 9-10) on a full-time basis (38 hours).
