Duties for this position include teaching responsibilities (70%) and academic research (30%). Applicants must possess excellent teaching skills to contribute to the courses offered by the department in the fields of Strategic Innovation Management, Change Management and/or Entrepreneurship and to supervise bachelor and master theses. Candidates should also have the capacity to conduct original research and to publish in high-quality management journals.

Our department comprises six Full Professors, eight Associate Professors, 20 Assistant Professors and several PhD students. We have a diverse department with more than 40% international staff and 37% female staff members. The department covers a variety of interests and disciplinary backgrounds and embraces varied methodological approaches with a keen focus on academic quality in research and teaching. We value research of both theoretical significance and practical relevance.

Requirements

To qualify you would (soon be able to) meet the following requirements:
1. you hold a PhD in Strategic Innovation Management, Change Management, Entrepreneurship, or a related field
2. you have the ability to develop courses and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level and to mentor students
3. you have demonstrated potential for conducting high quality research and publishing in good management journals
4. you possess good communication skills and value team work.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 48 months.

We offer in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities:
- a salary, in line with the Dutch regulation depending on qualifications and work experience, from a maximum of € 4,978 (scale 11) for a full-time position
- 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% end-of-year bonus
- participation in a pension scheme for employees
- a fiscal facility pertaining to extraterritorial costs may apply and renders part of the salary exempt from tax (the 30% facility in Dutch tax law)
- an initial appointment for a period of four years (0.8-1.0 FTE), on the condition of a positive mid-term evaluation at the end of the second year of employment.

The department of Innovation Management & Strategy (IM&S), University of Groningen, seeks candidates to fill one Assistant Professor position in Strategic Innovation Management, Change Management and/or Entrepreneurship.
Based in the Northern Netherlands, the University of Groningen is one of the oldest and largest in the country and is positioned within the Global Top 100 in several international rankings. The department of Innovation Management & Strategy is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), which is recognized among the top research institutions in Europe and belongs to the selected 1% of business schools with both EQUIS and AACSB accreditations.

We are looking for highly motivated candidates that demonstrate excellent teaching abilities and show interest in pursuing high-quality research. To qualify, candidates should have completed (or be close to completion of) a PhD in the field of Strategic Innovation Management, Change Management or Entrepreneurship.

The Assistant Professor will closely collaborate with colleagues in the Strategic Innovation Management, Change Management and/or Entrepreneurship groups that constitute the IM&S department. Researchers are part of the I&O research program of the FEB (https://www.rug.nl/research/io/research/) and publish and fulfil editorial roles in leading journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Research Policy, Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of Business Venturing among others. They are also active members of the Strategic Management Society, the Academy of Management and top international innovation, strategy and entrepreneurship research communities.

The IM&S department (http://www.rug.nl/feb/organization/scientific-departments/ims/) contributes to programs at the (honors) bachelor’s, master’s, research master’s levels and to the PhD program offered by our research school (SOM). The department is responsible for four Master of Science tracks: Change Management, Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Strategic Innovation Management, and Health Management & Economics.
