As one of the best computer science masters, our top rated SNE/OS3 programme is looking for a lab teacher to support our students in security and network engineering. Do you have the motivation, knowledge and social skills to prepare our students for a career in this field which is indispensable in each and every organisation? What are you going to do?

You:

  • coordinate all labs and practical exercises during the whole SNE master program. You will grade reports and assignments and supervise the students intensively during their work, and you are also responsible for improvements for the lab exercises;
  • are capable to do so because of your involvement in and overview of the different courses during the whole year, including creating new labs;
  • coordinate and guide other lab assistants, as well as PhD’s and postdocs from the SNE research group, who are involved in the SNE education;
  • recognize and signal possible study progress issues;
  • are responsible for the complex task of creating cohesion between the different courses in the education and play a key role in the educational model of the master;
  • take part in the intake procedure and assessment of prospective SNE students. You are involved in the evaluation and selection of new students;
  • make a yearly plan and have final responsibility for the proper delivery of the labs;
  • take care of the SNE lab and make sure the lab is in a decent condition to support the courses, together with the system engineer;
  • can replace the system engineer if necessary. You also work with the system engineer to arrange all necessary facilities to support the exercises and practical work;
  • contribute to the PR activities of the master SNE;
  • participate in site visits to other institutes, open days and education fairs. You give individual information to potential students through email and conversations;
  • organize the general content of the OS3 website and take care of web communication with the students about the schedule and important events.

Requirements

We are looking for a university level (MSc or PhD) candidate with a good (technical) knowledge of Security and Network Engineering and a good insight into the infrastructure of the SNE lab. Moreover, the candidate should be interested in the work environment of the highly motivated and participating student population of the SNE master.

You should:

  • have excellent social and communication skills;
  • have good organizational skills;
  • be fluent in the English language;
  • be willing to participate in a close-knit team;
  • be flexible in working hours.

Conditions of employment

A temporary contract for 38 hours per week, for the duration of one year. If you have proved to be qualified for the position, a permanent contract will be offered.

The salary, depending on relevant work experience before the beginning of the employment contract, will be between €2,709 to €4,274 (scale 10) gross per month, based on full-time employment (38 hours a week). These amounts are exclusive 8 % holiday allowance and 8,3 % end-of-year bonus. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities applies.
