Due to rapid growth Leiden University has an opening for a tenure track assistant professor in deep learning to strengthen our team, with a specific focus on deep learning for large-scale 3D imaging. Leiden is a large university in a small university town known for its friendly charm, close to the North Sea. Through this position we aim to strengthen the research and education on Fundamental and Applied machine learning. Areas of interest include scalable and memory-efficient deep learning algorithms, adversarial learning, reinforcement learning, time series, all with a focus on 3D image reconstruction and processing. We value original research and original ideas for your own research. Your work will consist of:

• Conducting independent research in your field;
• Teaching suitable BSc and MSc courses and supervising BSc, MSc, and PhD students;
• Securing external funding for research;
• Contribution to organizational activities of the institute.

• PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence or a closely related field;
• Several years of experience at the postdoctoral level in this field;
• Focus on results through collaboration;
• Strong publication record and experience in raising research funds;
• Proven track record in teaching;
• Energetic ‘out-of-the-box’ thinker with a clear view on a challenging research program;
• Team spirit/collaboration attitude strongly preferred.

We offer a full-time, 5 year term position, with the possibility of renewal based on need, funding and performance. Salary range from € 3.637,- to € 5.656,-  gross per month (pay scale 11-12 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
