The section Economics of Technology and Innovation (ETI) at Delft University of Technology offers a tenure track assistant professorship position in the field of Technology and Innovation Management with a passion for teaching. The main focus of this position is on education, and the research will be primarily related to education. The position will consist of teaching (40-60 %), research (20-40 %) and (education) management (20 %).  The section ETI is part of the Department of Values, Technology and Innovation (VTI) at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management (TPM) and is involved in three teaching programs at the master level and one at the bachelor level.

The assistant professorship here relates mainly to the master program Management of Technology (MOT). This is a two-year international programme for students with a bachelor degree in engineering aimed at learning all relevant aspects of technology and innovation management. Besides the vast growth in the number of students (from 10 students in 2003 to about 120 in 2019), the programme is acknowledged for the overall quality of the programme as reflected by favourable student evaluations and favourable reviews by Educational Assessment Committees.

We are looking for a candidate who will be an engaged assistant professor and is passionate in teaching. Successful applicants contribute to teaching in innovation management with a particular emphasis on financial management. The applicant is expected to:
• teach and coordinate Master and Bachelor courses related to technology and innovation management with a focus on financial management topics.
• supervise bachelor and master students during their thesis research.
• contribute to the development of new courses off-line and on-line.
• perform (education) management tasks.

At the start of the tenure-track you will be appointed as Assistant Professor for the duration of six years. Section leader, department leader and you will agree upon expected performance and relevant skills development. You will receive formal feedback on performance and skills during annual assessments and a formal mid-term evaluation. If the performance and skills are evaluated positively at the end of the tenure track, you will be appointed in a permanent Assistant Professor position.

The candidate should have:
• A PhD (or is about to finish the PhD soon) degree in technology and innovation management or a related discipline, such as business economics, business administration with a strong background in financial management and affinity with innovation management.
• Experience with academic teaching
• Affinity with academic research methods
• A UTQ degree (university teaching qualification) or willingness to obtain this degree.
• Excellent command of English is required
• Good command of Dutch or willingness to acquire it is recommendable.

Fixed-term contract: tenure track (6 years with the prospect of a permanent contract).

A tenure-track position is offered for six years. Based on performance indicators agreed upon at the start of the appointment, a decision will be made by the fifth year whether to offer you a permanent faculty position. For circumstances as having children or parental leave during the tenure track, it is possible to delay the definitive assessment and extend the Tenure Track appointment to a maximum of 8 years.
