Job description

Since 14 years, Wageningen University and Research (WUR) has a leading position in the Netherlands for its quality Education and continues to implement innovation plans related to authentic, blended and hybrid learning. Within WUR's Education Support Centre, the Society Based Education (SBE) team stimulates and develops real-life and authentic learning, by acquiring authentic assignments from societal actors, including private sector, government and non-governmental organisations. This enables students to apply their scientific and practical knowledge to tackle societal, complex and interdisciplinary issues in order to become responsible professionals in the future. With its activities the SBE team contributes to educational innovations that creates better connections between university and society. We are currently looking for a project leader to strengthen our team.

As project leader SBE you facilitate and inspire program directors, program committees and teachers to offer rich and authentic learning environments in their education. You will advise teachers on how to include real-life, transdisciplinary and authentic learning in their course and teaching practices. Secondly, you will coordinate the matching of real-life assignments for a number of BSc and MSc WUR courses. We achieve this by translating questions from societal actors into challenging student assignments. In this process you are working together with WUR teachers and project writers of the SBE team. You will work in a team of knowledge brokers, coordinators, project writers, educational advisors and will also collaborate with instructional designers, project coordinators, functional managers and multimedia experts.

Requirements

We are looking for a project leader with the following qualifications and abilities:
  • At least 3 to 5 years of work experience in the field of project management, didactics and knowledge sharing in higher education.
  • With a relevant academic degree in the field of Education and Training or a related area.
  • Up to date knowledge of educational and pedagogical theories, transdisciplinary, real-life and authentic learning.
  • Affinity with the WUR domains of environment and life sciences.
  • Good communication skills, enabling you to give advice and to work together with societal actors and WUR staff.
  • Excellent proficiency in English (C2) and Dutch (Nt2).
  • Being able to shape, manage and plan own projects within the agreed deadlines.
  • Being able to work in a self-organising team.
  • You are self-aware, purpose-driven, and people-oriented in your approach.

Conditions of employment

This concerns initially temporary appointment, up to 0,8 or 1,0fte (32-38 hours) as a Project Leader, starting with a one year contract with a possibility to extend. Salary depends on educational background, training and work experience and based on a fulltime employment, ranges from € 2709,- gross per month to € 4274,- gross per month (scale 10) according to the Collective Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten).
