Job description

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is an essential technology in molecular sciences. In the Faculty of Science & Technology at the University of Twente, research ranging from Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Science and Engineering to Materials Science, relies on a solid, high-end NMR infrastructure with substantial support.

At present, the research conducted on the NMR equipment contributes to widely diverging research questions. We ask your expertise and contribution to in particular, but not exclusive, the analysis of complex organic compound mixtures as they arise from biomass conversion and the elucidation of (bio)organic, macromolecular and supramolecular systems.

As a Researcher, you will be responsible to scientifically support these and other activities in a proactive manner. Also, you will look for new opportunities with other research groups within the faculty for application of NMR to their research questions. With your active attitude and view towards the future you will take the lead in the writing of grants that will support a scientific position for the NMR facility on the long run. Participation in the educational program of the faculty is encouraged.

The present NMR facilities represent a 600 MHz state-of-the-art instrument that is dedicated for more complex analysis and a 400 MHz machine, equipped with a sample robot, mostly used for routine analysis. The position will be embedded in the Organic and Materials Chemistry and Technology cluster (https://www.utwente.nl/en/tnw/omct/) in the Faculty of Science & Technology.
