The Faculty of Science and the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR) are looking for an Assistant professor in Pharmacology

Job description

You will be appointed at the Division of Systems Biomedicine and Pharmacology of LACDR, which consists of 6 Principal Investigator (PI) groups performing research in the areas of (systems) pharmacology/pharmacometrics, analytical biosciences, and biophysics.

Key responsibilities
In this position you will contribute to the teaching program of the bachelor and master programmes of Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences (~50%) and perform research (~50%).

Teaching tasks will include small and large group teaching on pharmacology or general scientific skills as well as individual supervision of students during research projects and thesis writing. As member of the core teaching team for the Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences programmes you will be responsible for implementation of teaching innovation and alignment of the overall curricula. 

Research tasks will consist of a combination of supporting PhD students within the  Division of Systems Biomedicine and Pharmacology, primarily in the groups of  Elizabeth de Lange (CNS pharmacology and diseases) and Coen van Hasselt (antimicrobial pharmacology) as co-supervisor. You are also encouraged to pursue your personal research interests in the area of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PKPD), pharmacometrics, or quantitative systems pharmacology and you will have the opportunity to apply for grants to support these interests. A personal budget will be provided supporting attendance of teaching and/or research conferences.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in (Bio-) Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy or a related degree;
  • Affinity for teaching, in particular on pharmacology and related topics (prior teaching experience is a plus). Preferably in possession of a University Teaching Qualification (BKO), or willing to acquire that within 2 years after appointment;
  • Knowledge of pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, and PKPD;
  • Knowledge of antibiotic pharmacology/infectious diseases, CNS pharmacology, microdialysis methods and/or biochemical methods is a plus;
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both in speaking and writing) is required;
  • Able to communicate in Dutch or motivated to learn Dutch;
  • Good team player and organizer;
  • Planned start date as soon as possible by Q1 2021 the latest.

Conditions of employment

We offer a full-time position for six years. Salary range from € 3.746,- to € 5.127,- gross per month (pay scale 11 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
