The Grant support division of Academic Support of Tilburg University is looking for an enthousiastic colleague for the position of a project Manager for a four-year research project consortium involving knowledge institutions and corporate partners within the department of Cognitive Science & Artificial Intelligence of Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences.

Job description

The position is part of an externally funded initiative that covers five projects as part of MindLabs (https://www.mind-labs.eu) a multi-party research and development initiative involving cognitive science and artificial intelligence. MindLabs is a collaboration between Tilburg University, Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Intermediate Vocational Education (ROC) Tilburg, and industry. In the MindLabs initiative, human and artificial minds meet in virtual and mixed reality, serious games and learning, robotics and avatars, and language and data technologies.

The MindLabs research project consortium includes 1) predicting behavior using data science; 2) measuring neurophysiology in VR simulations, 3) developing virtual reality agents for education, 4) investigating decision making using serious games, 5) measuring learning and performance in simulations. The projects cover areas ranging from maintenance, logistics, aerospace prevention to education. All five scientific projects involve strong collaborations between knowledge institutions and industry.

Job description
The project manager oversees and coordinates the five MindLabs projects in content and administration. He/she manages and achieves the project objectives by taking responsibilities in guiding, coordinating and overviewing the activities and tasks necessary across all parties. Moreover, he/she ensures that all activities are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget, including the financial administration of the projects. The successful candidate is the central liaison with all project partners and cooperates with dedicated project researchers on the milestones of the projects.

Requirements

  • A proactive, dynamic, and enthusiastic ambassador of the project consortium;
  • Experience with project management within academic environments and/or corporate environments in terms of milestones, deliverables, and administrative and financial project management;
  • Very good command of spoken and written English and Dutch;
  • Result-oriented, creative, decisive, with networking and collaborative skills; affinity and experience with finance;
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention for detail and multitasking skills, able to keep overview;
  • A team player, able to also work in an autonomous way and take initiative;
  • Ability to interact and communicate efficiently with various stakeholders.

What we offer
The candidate will be employed at Tilburg University. We offer:

  • A full-time position.
  • The positions will be ranked in the Dutch university job ranking system (UFO) as project manager 4. The starting gross salary for a full-time appointment is (minimally) € 3.746,- and (maximally) €5190,- per month (max  €72.431,-  all in per year). 
  • The start of the employment is negotiable, preferably soon after September 1, 2020.
  • Successful candidates receive a contract for four years.
  • Tilburg University is rated among the top of Dutch employers and has excellent terms of employment, such as a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% (annually), an options model and reimbursement of moving expenses. Candidates from outside the Netherlands may qualify for a tax-free allowance equal to 30% of their taxable salary. The university will apply for such an allowance on their behalf. The University will provide assistance in finding suitable accommodation.
