Our vacancy for an assistant professor in Work, Health and Performance could be of interest to you. As an assistant professor, you will be part of the Work, Health and Performance research programme of the Behavioural Science Institute (BSI) and the Work and Organisational Psychology group at the School of Psychology, both part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Radboud University. 
We are especially interested in candidates who take an interest in the impact of digital technology in the workplace. We welcome candidates who approach this topic from a psychological perspective (e.g. their research could be about new ways of working, online platform businesses, re-skilling and up-skilling, or sustainable employability). We also welcome candidates who approach this topic from an engineering perspective (e.g. their research could be about human–machine interaction or robotics). With that said, we welcome all candidates who can initiate and drive innovation within the field of work and organisational psychology. We are interested in candidates whose expertise connects with - and is complementary to - our faculty’s current expertise on stress, recovery, fairness, motivation and health behaviour.

You will mostly be teaching in one or more subdisciplines of work and organisational psychology (i.e. work and health psychology, personnel (HRM) psychology and/or organisational psychology) in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes, and supervise students in thesis projects at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. Teaching will be mainly in English. We offer a combined (50%) teaching and (50%) research position. You will be expected to regularly apply for external grant-based funding.

• You have a doctoral degree (PhD) in the field of work and organisational psychology, occupational health psychology or a related discipline (e.g. social and health psychology, clinical neuropsychology, health sciences, exercise/sports psychology, occupational medicine, and/or applied artificial intelligence).
• You are an enthusiastic lecturer and have experience with lecturing at various academic levels and with various teaching methods.
• You are an inspiring, motivating and conscientious supervisor of internships as well as of BA and MA theses.
• Your teaching experience and skills are evidenced by a certificate (e.g. the Basic University Teaching Qualification, BKO) or you are willing to obtain this qualification within two years.
• You have a positive attitude towards open science practices and replicable and reproducible research (including pre-registration and data sharing).
• You have good qualifications in quantitative research methodology.
• You will apply for external research funding or already have experience with writing grant applications.
• You have a good track record of high-quality international publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• You have started developing your own research line and a network of national and international partners.
• You are active in translating your research to a broader audience in the field.
• You have the ability and willingness to contribute to organisational tasks.
• You have an excellent command of written and spoken English.
• You have a very good command of Dutch (or are willing to learn Dutch within two years).
• You are a team player and willing to collaborate with colleagues from different disciplines.

Fixed-term contract: Two years, with the possibility of extension to a permanent position.

• Employment: 32 - 40 hours per week.
• A maximum gross monthly salary of € 5.826 based on a 38-hour working week (salary scale 12).
• The exact salary depends on the candidate's qualifications and amount of relevant professional experience.
• In addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
• Duration of the contract: Two years, with the possibility of extension to a permanent position.

The Behavioural Science Institute (BSI) is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. It is an accredited multidisciplinary behavioural research institute in which researchers collaborate across the boundaries of psychology, educational science and communication science. The BSI has seven research programmes covering three main research themes: (1) development and learning; (2) psychopathology, health and well-being; and (3) social processes and communication. The BSI conducts fundamental as well as applied research. Our PhD candidates are trained at the BSI Graduate School, which is recognised by the Dutch Research council (NWO). The BSI has state-of-the-art research facilities for observational studies, experiments, eye-tracking studies, neurobiological measurements, and behavioural measurements in both real and 3D virtual environments. The neuroimaging facilities of the Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging (e.g. fMRI, EEG) are also available for research on the neural bases of human behaviour.

The Work, Health and Performance (WHP) research programme of the BSI aims to conduct innovative research on the psychological processes underlying human work behaviour, and health and performance, in order to optimise work behaviour and work contexts. WHP is chaired by Prof. Sabine Geurts. Other faculty members who are currently part of WHP are Dr Debby Beckers, Dr Madelon van Hooff, Dr Yannick Griep, Dr Erik Bijleveld, Dr Brigitte Claessens, Prof. Cécile Boot, and Dr Katharina Bernecker (from 10/2020).
