Job description

Erasmus University College (EUC) is still young, but ambitious in positioning itself as an educational innovator in terms of defining Liberal Arts for the 21th century. A strong professional services staff is essential to help our educational experts flourish, in both teaching and research.

The office manager we are looking for will be both supporting daily operations of EUC, and help preparing the establishment of the Erasmus Research Center for Liberal Arts and Sciences (ERCLAS), a research center that encompasses the current research activities of the different departments, bundles resources and facilitates joint projects and funding activities. In this LAS research hub focus is put on societal impact, transdisciplinary research, and educational innovation.

For this, we need a person who is excellent in running an office professionally, having a knack for good old secretarial handiwork and Excel skills, but who is also great in getting things organised: knowledge of project management is an asset. You will be daily structuring processes, dealing with finance, improving quality of services, using your network to connect to people and create opportunities.

Is this all? No, a very important characteristic we ask for is you being flexible, as no day is the same at EUC, and there is always plenty to do in our College. Are you triggered? Keep reading.

The Dean’s Office is at the heart of EUC. It consists of some 20 persons who make it possible for students and academic staff to excel in this unique Bachelor’s degree programme in Liberal Arts & Sciences. For our students this means, for example, that we support them when they apply, get admitted, and we arrange a place to live in the 1st year. We challenge them to actively learn, and advise them about study tracks and careers. And when we finally give them a diploma they are not lost, but admitted as a proud member of our growing Alumni Association.

For our academic staff we facilitate their excellent teaching: the motto is unburdening. The new to establish ERCLAS is meant to further unleash the research potential of the EUC academic staff and to integrate all initiatives and ideas in a focused way. And focus you will need too….
