You will become part of the ScreeninC team and be based at the iPSC/CRISPR centre at the University Medical Center in Groningen. You will work closely with your colleagues at the iPSC/CRISPR center, as well as your colleagues at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and Leiden University. Following expert training at the Netherlands Cancer Institute, you will, together with the local iPSC/CRISPR team, develop, optimize and implement new CRISPR screening technology in Groningen. You will assist researchers who will reach out to the ScreeninC infrastructure with optimization and execution of their CRISPR screens. Finally, you will, together with your ScreeninC colleagues, visit other universities and research institutes to inform them about the applications of CRISPR screens and the ScreeninC infrastructure.

- A PhD in bio-molecular sciences, medical biology, or a related area.
- Experience with CRISPR genome engineering is a big plus.
- Affinity/experience with complex culture systems (iPSCs, organoids) is also a plus.
- You have an inquisitive and independent attitude.
- You have excellent communication skills and a team player.
- You have excellent entrepreneurial skills.

The UMCG has a preventive Hepatitis B policy. The UMCG can provide you with the vaccination, should it be required for your position.

In case of specific professions a ‘Certificate of Good Conduct’ is required.

The position is for one year with a possibility for extension till a maximum of 4 years. Your salary will be a maximum of € 4.615,- gross per month (scale 10), depending on your qualifications and relevant experience, based on a full-time appointment. ERIBA

The European Research Institute for the Biology of Aging (ERIBA) is a research institute at the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG), in Groningen, the Netherlands. The mission of ERIBA is to better understand the molecular mechanisms that result in age-related decline and age-related diseases. The iPSC/CRISPR centre at ERIBA is one of the UMCG research infrastructures. The facility serves as an expertise centre and education hub for iPSC and CRISPR-related techniques for the University of Groningen and UMCG. The facility generates and genetically engineers induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and their differentiated progeny for university and UMCG employees. Finally, the iPSC/CRISPR centre helps end-users to genetically engineer primary cells and cell lines using CRISPR/Cas9 technology and to perform functional genetic screens using CRISPR libraries. ERIBA is part of the central UMCG campus in the vibrant university city Groningen in the north of the Netherlands.

The UMCG iPSC/CRISPR centre lab is currently looking for a postdoctoral fellow to help establish a national CRISPR screening platform.

To expedite and facilitate the use of functional CRISPR screens in the Netherlands, the iPSC/CRISPR centre at ERIBA (overseen by Dr. Floris Foijer), will, together with the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam (Dr. Roderick Beijersbergen) and Leiden University (prof. Bob van de Water) establish a KWF-funded national infrastructure that supports CRISPR screens throughout the Netherlands. This national facility, ScreeninC, will provide expertise, tools, service and infrastructure for functional genomic technologies ranging from advanced model generation using CRISPR/Cas9 to large scale CRISPR screening. The three sites hosting ScreeninC (Groningen, Amsterdam and Leiden) will work closely together in the development and implementation of new technologies for genome editing and screening and will together provide support for CRISPR screening projects to research groups in the Netherlands.
