You will further develop and implement the strategy and methods in order to analyze all rankings criteria and improve the overall ranking and subject rankings for Tilburg University in QS, THE, the Business School Rankings - Financial Times, and ARWU.

Job description

Tilburg University is looking for an International Rankings Officer/ Institutional Researcher (1.0 FTE). You will further develop and implement the strategy and methods in order to analyze all rankings criteria and improve the overall ranking and subject rankings for Tilburg University in QS, THE, the Business School Rankings - Financial Times, and ARWU. The International Rankings Officer proactively provides advice and guidelines to the Schools about their research publications and develops an effective strategy to boost Tilburg University’s reputation. The International Rankings Officer will be a team member of the Marketing & Recruitment Office. In close collaboration with the market researcher and international M&R strategist, the officer has the possibility to access the existing rankings network of the Marketing team. The officer will work closely with the Schools and other Divisions/Departments, Policy Staff Office in particular.
Moreover, within the broader area of Institutional Research you will have to deal with lots of data and information for different purposes. Full contribution to Tilburg University’s Institutional Research field is an essential part of your job. 

Responsibilities and duties
International Rankings area: (via HoD M&R – M&C director)

  • Further formulate the international ranking strategy for Tilburg University in order to improve positions in all international rankings;
  • Conduct clear analyses of international rankings on all relevant criteria; 
  • Maintain close relations with a network of international rankings organizations;
  • Collect relevant internal data (for example, staff-to-student ratio, number of international students, number of international staff, financial status of the university, research income, etc.);
  • In close collaboration with the Policy Staff Office, develop a policy to enable researchers to improve their national and international visibility, resulting in a greater impact of their research (for example, workshops, best practices, online personal branding and reputation, etc.);
  • Cooperate with relevant stakeholders (the Executive Board, TiSEM, Academic Services, etc.) to direct actions that can improve our position in the rankings (for example, based on the criterion of ‘Reputation’).

Institutional Research area (via the M&C director - the Executive Board and Board of Governance):

  • Identify information needs 
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report data and information (about Education and Research)
  • Serve as an agent of data and information (institution-wide data strategy)
  • Educate information producers, users, and consumers -this includes the training and coaching related to the use of data, analysis, and information to inform decision making

Requirements

  • You have a degree from a research university, preferably in the fields of Business Administration, Marketing, Marketing Analytics, Data Science or Management;
  • You have evident affinity with higher education and research;
  • You like to work both independently and in teams;
  • You have at least two years of work experience in market research and/or data analysis in a similar field; 
  • You are enthusiastic and result-driven;
  • You have excellent networking, analytical, and communication skills;
  • You are punctual and are able to deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information/material;
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • You are able to motivate and activate the academic staff to become aware of the necessity of rankings and how to increase the impact of their work;
  • You are able to develop a policy and present it including your findings;
  • You have the ability to convince and encourage your stakeholders about the ranking strategy and policies developed. 

Conditions of employment

The position of International Rankings Officer/ Institutional Researcher is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position. The positions will be ranked in the Dutch university job ranking system (UFO). The gross salary for a full-time position is maximally € 5.127,- gross per month, in line with the experience of the candidate.

Tilburg University offers excellent terms of employment. You are entitled to a holiday allowance amounting to 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% of your gross yearly income. If you work 40 hours per week, you receive 41 days of paid recreational leave per year.
