What you are going to do
Do you want to further understand the complex processes in mental health conditions, especially in depression? Are you interested to build a bridge between clinical, biomedical and social domains and research? And do you want to develop new research projects and apply for funding? If your answer is yes, we are looking for you! 

In the team of professor Bockting at the department of Psychiatry of Amsterdam UMC (location AMC) we are looking for a postdoc researcher who can:

  • • Connect researchers and clinicians from variousdisciplines;
  • • Write grant applications;
  • • Initiate, conduct, and report various projects;
  • • Initiate and develop their own research line;
  • • Supervise PhD, Master, and Bachelor students;
  • • Collaborate with various researchers from different fields, national and international. 

The team is an interdisciplinary group of researchers, based in the Amsterdam University Medical Centre (location AMC) devoted to understand and target psychological, biomedical and social processes and their interplay in depression and concurrent mental health conditions. The postdoc can participate in the interdisciplinary Centre of Urban Mental Health of the University of Amsterdam (www.uva.nl/urban-mental-health) at the Institute of Advanced Study in the University of Amsterdam.

Background
The research program of the team focuses on the following topics:

  • Understanding etiological and maintenance factors in depression and related common mental health disorders using a complex systems approach.
  • Developing innovative multimodal psychological interventions (i.e. combined with technological devices and pharmacological treatments) and evaluating the effect in RCT’s and micro RCT’s (using ecological momentary)

Goal
This Postdoc will be enabled to write research proposals (international and national funds), design and conduct studies (mostly common mental conditions) co-supervise PhD students, and work on manuscripts within the team of prof. Bockting and with researchers of the involved at the Centre of Urban Mental Health.

Requirements

  • • Has a PhD in (clinical) psychology, psychiatry, medicine (psychiatry), or related areas.
  • • Has an affinity towards and good knowledge on mental health, preferably depression.
  • • Has experience with writing research proposal and grant acquisition.
  • • Enjoys interacting with scientists from different disciplines and tackling complex problems.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

This is a 0.8 fte to full-time Postdoc position for at least 2 years based in Amsterdam (The Netherlands), starting with a one-year contract. Appointment starts as soon as possible. Part-time appointment is possible.

  • The maximum gross monthly salary based on a 36-hour work week is between € 2.911,- and € 4.615,- (scale 10 CAO UMC) 
  • The base salary does not include holiday pay (8%) and a year-end bonus (8.3%). 
  • We initially offer an contract for 12 months, with the prospect of a permanent contract upon good performance.
  • In addition to excellent accessibility by public transport, AMC also has a sufficient number of parking spaces for employees.
  • Pension is accrued at Be Frank.
