Job description

For exciting explorative projects aiming at developing novel genetic engineering tools for yeast and microalgal cells, we are looking for a research assistant. The successful candidate is an enthusiastic and motivated person, which would like to gain experience in both cultivation and transfection of yeast cells and photosynthetic microalgae. The position is temporary and for 8 months.

Requirements

You have:
  • A successfully completed academic study (MSc level; recognized in The Netherlands) preferably in biotechnology, molecular biology or similar;
  • high analytical and organizational skills;
  • high independence;
  • flexibility and capability to carry-on 2 projects;
  • hands-on expertise in molecular biology and cloning tools such as gibson and golden gate is prerequisite;
  • experience with flow cytometry;
  • knowledge and affinity with bioinformatics tools;
  • lab experience with transfection of yeast and/or microalgal cells is preferable;
  • excellent communication skills;
  • proficiency in English (spoken as well as written).

Conditions of employment

We offer a challenging position with, depending on your experience, a competitive salary for a full working week of 38 hours in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement Dutch Universities.

The Bioprocess Engineering Chair group (BPE) is part of the research groups within AFSG. BPE teaches and develops new bio-based processes for production and bio-refinery of pharmaceuticals, healthy food ingredients, bulk chemicals and biofuels.
