Job description

Are you an experienced partnership advisor in food and agriculture, and are you passionate about working with stakeholders on guiding food system transformation across Africa and Asia?

You have hands-on experience working on multi-stakeholder partnership design and facilitation, and will join our team working on sustainable and inclusive food systems transformation. At Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation, our work portfolio contains short term and longer-term agri-food sector development assignments. You will support project staff and partners in the multi-stakeholder processes needed to design sector development strategies and implement sector interventions. You bring aptitude to build capacity of others and to develop knowledge products to further the professional field of stakeholder engagement for sustainability.

You will lead and assist projects in the facilitation of innovation processes, policy dialogues, capacity strengthening and action research. You can be counted upon to build and guide effective partnerships between knowledge institutes, government organizations, civil society organizations, and private companies. You facilitate trainings and workshops and develop training related materials, tools and methodologies.

Next to project implementation, you will contribute to further developing our international profile and portfolio of work in the area of food system stakeholder engagement, and you bring a professional network that enables you to do so.

At Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation, project implementation and capacity strengthening are closely intertwined and mutually reinforce each other, we expect you to work at both. Assignments primarily take place in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, the MENA region and Latin America, although much of our work is currently done remotely.

Requirements

  • an MSc degree or PhD in Social Sciences;
  • a minimum of ten years of relevant work experience, with at least five years of experience in (projects in) Africa and/or Asia or Latin America, including advisory work and knowledge development;
  • a good understanding of the transformation of agri-food sectors, in particular the nutrition and food security sector;
  • experience in designing, planning and facilitating multi-stakeholder partnerships (face to face and online);
  • experience with capacity strengthening and facilitation of trainings (face to face and online);
  • experience in linking theory with policy and practice;
  • experience in the acquisition and management of multi-annual projects;
  • excellent communication and writing skills with a strong ability to work and communicate across boundaries/cultures, and a background in participatory methodologies for innovation and change;
  • your English proficiency is excellent (a minimum of CEFR C1 level). For more information about this proficiency level, please visit our special language page.
Furthermore you also have one or more of the following backgrounds:
  • affinity with an entrepreneurial and dynamic working environment;
  • fluency in the creative use of online collaboration tools;
  • self-motivation, being comfortable working both independently and as part of interdisciplinary teams;
  • a good proficiency in French and/or Spanish is an added benefit.

Conditions of employment

We offer you a meaningful job in a rich and innovative knowledge environment with 6500 colleagues in leading global university. Depending on your experience, a competitive salary is offered from a minimum of €3.336,- to a maximum of €5.183,- for a full working week of 36 hours in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for the Wageningen Research (scale 11).
