Job description

Your role as a digital content coordinator includes:

● managing the University of Groningen’s content and social media strategy to support key operational goals across student recruitment, research awareness and brand affinity
● contribution to high profile student recruitment campaigns throughout the academic year
● ensuring the presentation of compelling content across central platforms, including web and social media; also ensuring the development and publication of dynamic content across the website and other digital assets; supporting the operational objectives of the Communications Department, in particular student recruitment goals, with appropriate content development, publication and promotion
● further development of the culture of proactive engagement (underpinned by a network of content contributors and content creators (e.g. bloggers and editors) across the university, enabling the sharing of news and feature stories, together with best practice
● having understanding of digital media assets to nurture user engagement and digital journeys primarily utilizing the corporate Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube
● ensuring digital engagement, website navigation, key messages/content themes and tone of voice are routinely tested against key stakeholder groups; that insight is applied to regularly reviewed and updated practices and approach; also to benchmark against peer institutions and best practice examples
● taking a data-driven approach for continuous improvement across our digital assets and ensuring strategy is informed by data
● overseeing the work of and motivating 3 student assistants with a diverse set of skills and a desire to learn more
● working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to shape the future direction for the digital marketing efforts across the university
● assisting within other areas of the Marketing and Communications team as and when required.

Requirements

• a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and ideally combined with a marketing, communications or web qualification
• relevant experience gained in a digital marketing, communications or web environment together with excellent writing and proofreading skills
• demonstrate a successful track record in content and social media management, an appreciation of the importance of messaging/content and an interest in innovation/new technology
• a solid understanding and proven track record of applying marketing principles, such as marketing and content strategy, audience personas, unique selling points and measurement
• able to manage a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority across a broad-ranging organisation
• possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, with which to motivate and inspire both internal colleagues and external associates
• have a persuasive and highly visible approach
• demonstrate a professional manner, working positively and collaboratively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds
• ability to present complex information to multiple audiences
• have a good understanding of Google Analytics and SEO; appreciate the value of audience insight and market research / testing
• possess strong problem solving skills and the ability to evaluate alternative courses of action and formulate recommendations
• have excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office package, and monitoring systems like Coosto)
• have proven project management skills
• possess the ability to present a professional image of the university at all times
• good command of Dutch and English (C1 Level).

Desirable:
• ideally have a good understanding of the university environment (research and education)
• experience in supporting and working with student recruitment marketing activities within a university.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

• depending on your qualifications and working experience, a salary from € 2,790 up to a maximum of € 4,402 gross per month (salary scale 10) for a full-time position
• a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income and an 8.3% year-end bonus
• a contract for the period of one year; after this period an extension of your employment (either temporary or indefinite) is possible, depending on organisational development and your own performance
• a position with the availability of 40 hours a week (1.0 FTE).

OVERVIEW
As a Digital Content Coordinator, you will be part of the university’s Marketing Team, which sits within the Department of Communications. If you are a great communicator, experienced in using insight to assess the effectiveness of content in order to improve our digital communication and user experience, this vacancy is an opportunity for you! You will oversee and implement the university’s content creation, digital marketing and social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram in particular) at a central level. In addition, you will present and distribute digital content to support student recruitment activity ensuring an integrated approach across all managed channels in support of our marketing objectives.
