As Rector of the UA you are responsible for the quality of educational programs, (scientific) research and the financial results of the University. Furthermore, you are responsible for the management of the daily operations of the University in accordance with its mission and strategic goals. You formulate and implement the organization’s strategy and policies. You are expected to strengthen the university’s position locally as well as internationally. You will also promote and maintain relationships with (inter)national educational institutions, the business community, the government and social organizations as to bridge the gap between the academic community and our broader society. The coming period your focus will be to lead and execute a transformation of the University to become a more flexible and agile institution. You are a member of the daily board of the University and you report to the Board of Trustees.

You have a PhD degree with at least 5 years of experience in an executive position in a (international) university or college. You have extensive experience in managing education and research processes and you are capable of setting the university’s agenda in this area. You have ample experience working successfully with budgets and long-term financial plans. You are a strategic thinker and you combine a strategic perspective with a hands-on mentality. You have proven change management skills and experience in leading a transformation. You are a team player, result-oriented and a decision maker. You have a collaborative and consensus-building leadership style that embraces transparency, builds community, and fosters teamwork. You are an outstanding communicator with a comfortable public presence, and you have excellent people skills. You are diplomatic with a high level of integrity. You have excellent communications skills, both written and verbally in English. Strong communication skills in Dutch are preferred.
