Job description

To support mainly the climate change impacts and coastal systems engineering research/project/education activities of the department we are currently looking for a: Associate Professor in Water Infrastructure Asset Management 0,8-1 FTE / 32 – 38 hours per week. 

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen CURR position in Asset Management with linkages to strategic aspects and operational practices and perspectives, incl. water and finance;
  • Ability to operationalise technical, socioeconomic and governance-related adaptation components into tailored strategies, concrete measures and expressive indicators, acknowledges the value of adaptive capacity and flexibility of assets for robustness and resilience of infrastructure assets;
  • Developing the integration of asset management (water infrastructure) into urban climate adaptation.
  • Perform/Contribute to project management-related activities;
  • Lead/Contribute to project-related funding opportunities and acquisitions;
  • Draft, write and review project deliverables, ensuring they are of high quality, in time and within budget;
  • Redevelop, coordinate and teach asset management module;
  • Establish a strong national and international network across the public, private and knowledge sectors.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in the area of environmental science, civil engineering;
  • Proven track record in research in the area of asset management, flood risk management in urbanised delta areas and climate adaptation;
  • Proven track record in transdisciplinary collaboration between research, practice and policy;
  • A good working knowledge of adaptive planning methodologies;
  • A good working knowledge of asset management at a strategic, tactical and operational level;
  • A good working knowledge of technical, socioeconomic and governance aspects of asset management and adaptation;
  • Working experience in Asian countries is a plus;
  • Experience with and/or affinity for capacity building (education and training) activities;
  • Affinity with modelling is a plus;
  • Experience in setting up and coordinating academic modules;
  • Teaching experience in academic courses;
  • Experience with using ICT in education, such as digital assessment, e-moderating, online; teaching methods and platforms (experience with Moodle is an asset) is a plus.

General requirements

  • Proficiency in English is a prerequisite; working knowledge of one or more 'large' languages is a plus;
  • UTQ is a plus;
  • Excellent communication and writing/reporting skills;
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Ability to function in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Readiness to travel and participate in education, research and capacity building projects abroad.
