Job description

The Maastricht Science Programme is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated educator specializing in academic writing to join our dynamic international team.

You will be responsible for developing a curricular learning-line for writing and will be teaching scientific writing modules and workshops. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to lead creative elements of group projects and bachelor theses. You will support students by developing initiatives to build on their writing skills. You will become an active part of our community, advising undergraduate students, organizing (extra-curricular) activities, building a scientific and educational network for our students to explore, and establishing contacts with other faculties and student-facing services within Maastricht. You are stimulating and approachable for students and will readily interact with colleagues within Maastricht University and with other knowledge and business partners.

Requirements

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an individual with a strong track record in academic writing education and a commitment to excellence in teaching. We seek someone with a background in the natural sciences to support existing academic writing initiatives and to grow the programme’s offering in this area. We are looking for an individual with a passion for communicating natural science in the written form who can inspire our staff and students to write well and explore innovative practices. You have an excellent command of written and spoken English. A PhD within the natural sciences is considered a benefit but not essential for this position.

 

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 2 year.

What do we offer in return?

·         An academic staff / lecturer position at maximally 0.7 FTE;

·         Initially a temporary 2-year contract. Depending on the development of the programme and performance, a permanent position is possible;

·         Remuneration according to salary level 10 (from €2790,- to  a  maximum of  €4402,-), depending on experience and qualifications, based on a full-time appointment (1,0 fte);

·         An international academic environment and student community.
