Project manager Challenge Based Learning in (Inter)national collaboration

The Eindhoven University of Technology is strategic partner in two alliances of universities of science and technology that collaborate to create the engineering education of the future. As a project manager you will play a pivotal role in shaping the development of Challenge Based Learning (CBL). CBL is an innovative educational approach that places real life challenges at the core of students' learning. In both national and international projects, you will represent the TU/e and work together with a variety of Universities on designing and learning from joint, challenge based learning experiences for students from different countries and backgrounds. In the section below you will find more information about the alliances and the CBL projects.



Alliance Universities in Netherlands

In the context of Challenging the Future, the four University partners (1) within the Alliance collaborate to create joint, innovative educational programs for students and professionals, addressing important societal challenges. The project aims to acquire and exchange experiences and scientific insights in the development of challenge-based learning. The final goal is that CBL will become an important component of the didactics within the collaborative educational programs of the Alliance. To this end, new educational concepts need to be developed.



EuroTeQ Engineering University (European University Network)

All partners of the EuroTeQ Engineering University are leading universities (2) of science and technology that share the belief that societal developments of the future call for new approaches in education (euroteq.eu). The plan for the new approach in education is built on five core activities and projects. In the EuroTeQ CBL project you will lead the TU/e tasks in the work package: Running the EuroTeQ Collider. This is the centerpiece of the project, bringing academic students together with non-academic, vocational learners, as well as a variety of stakeholders tackling the grand-challenges of the 21st century through a series of co-created, challenge-based projects and competitions.

Under the supervision of the program manager, you will have a pivotal role in the collaboration with project managers, students, professionals and experts at TU/e and the other university partners.

As a project manager you will be responsible for the planning, implementation with the project groups and members, monitoring, and reporting of the various projects that are a part of the Alliance and the EuroTeQ Engineering University. You will also guard consistency in the plans in relation to the TU/e program. Next to managing the projects, you are also the hands-on educational advisor and able to develop the educational formats for the project. To facilitate the development of your network within TU/e you will be working from our location at Innovation Space. This is a vibrant, open learning and innovation community at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).

For this project, Eurotech has brought two other strong partners on board: Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) and Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU).

Requirements

To take on this challenging job the following characteristics apply to you:

  • Familiar with research and education in Universities
  • Used to working in a politically driven environment
  • Experience in managing educational innovation projects and/or international projects
  • Independent team player used to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • Excellent communication skills, analytical and organizational skills  
  • Proficient in English and Dutch, used to presenting and writing in English
  • A strong affinity with active, self-directed and/or challenge based learning;
  • A Master's degree in educational science, learning psychology and/or engineering in combination with experience as a teacher / educational developer
  • Combine a hands-on mindset with the flexibility to combine multiple project roles
  • Well-organized, autonomous, flexible, service- and result oriented, deadline-driven

Conditions of employment

We are offering a 1.0 FTE appointment. Depending on experience and education, the salary for a full-time contract ranges between € 3.746,- and € 5.127,- gross per month (salary scale 11 CAO Dutch Universities). The TU/e offers a broad package of fringe benefits, for instance a year-end bonus of 8.3%, holiday allowance of 8% and excellent sport facilities.

We are offering a temporary appointment for a period of one year. The employment contract may be extended in the event of good performance and if the financial conditions remain the same for two years. Most likely, the appointment will be via EUFLEX (TU/e secondment agency).
