Professional Doctorate in Engineering in Business and IT

The Professional Doctorate in Engineering in Business and IT (PDEng BIT) aims to raise the level of competence of professionals in IT to deal with the opportunities and challenges that IT-based innovations pose. The complexity of today’s IT-enabled world implies that IT professionals cannot restrict themselves to one discipline, such as Computer Science or Management Science. They need competences ranging from requirements engineering to system architecture, from design thinking to business analytics, and from e-business innovation to modernisation of legacy systems.

Within the PDEng in BIT we seek applicants for the following position:

Data driven architecture for Predictive maintenance in the Maritime Sector

MARCONI focuses on the development of service logistic control towers, in a maritime setting, in which several supply chain players participate. In this joint university-industry project, we develop decision support models that integrate the planning of operations, maintenance and resources, and we design the control tower from a business and information management perspective. The goal of this project is to design control architecture that can facilitate effective data sharing of asset usage data and adaptive collaborative processes. Moreover, configuring joint contracts could be facilitated by the control tower architecture.  In collaboration with the industry partners, the goal is to design a “plug-and-play” architecture for control tower technology. Through prototype implementations of the control tower, the design will be validated.
