The Amsterdam School of Economics has a vacancy for a tenured Associate or Full professor in Environmental Economics.

Job description

Candidates are expected to equally contribute to research and teaching. Teaching will be at both the undergraduate (BSc) and the graduate (MSc and PhD) level. The school’s teaching is conducted in English. Research is expected to be aimed at international top journals, in line with the research fellow criteria of the Tinbergen Institute.

Highly-motivated candidates with outstanding research and teaching qualities in the area of environmental economics are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who support their work with applied econometric or experimental work and/or whose work is policy relevant.

Our offer

The employment contract will be on a permanent basis. Both full-time and part-time contract are possible.

Initial salary is between €5,190 to €10,106 gross per month, depending on the level of contract (+16.3% holiday and end-year payments). This is based on 38 hours per week and in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities regulating employment conditions at Dutch universities. A substantial reduction in income tax (equal to 30% of taxable salary) may apply to non-Dutch appointees. The UvA offers a very attractive pension scheme. The university has generous provisions for parental leave.

Faculty of Economics and Business - Amsterdam School of Economics

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the University of Amsterdam at the UvA provides academic courses for more than 7,000 students and conducts research programs in many specialist areas employing about 500 people. The FEB has an internationally acclaimed profile and is located in the heart of Amsterdam. FEB consists of the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) and the Amsterdam School of Economics (ASE). ASE is among the top economics research institutes in Europe. It is particularly keen on expanding research and teaching in environmental economics.

The ASE consists of four sections: Economics of Taxation, Microeconomics, Macro and International Economics, and Quantitative Economics. The sections are responsible for teaching at the BSc and MSc level. Its researchers also actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Tinbergen Institute. The School has a strong focus on producing top-quality research and is highly active in international academic networks. The environment is collegial and encourages collaboration among faculty.
