We are looking for an Investment Manager that will work with UNIIQ and the GEF in selecting, supporting and financing EUR related and GEF eligible start-ups. As Investment Manager, you help promising knowledge-based entrepreneurs find their early stage funding; this can be at the very beginning with a pre-seed loan between Euro 10K and Euro 100K from the Graduate Entrepreneur Fund or in a later stage with investments up to EUR 300K from the UNIIQ fund. For this position we are looking for a senior with experience in the field of investment management. In addition to this experience, you are well embedded in the relevant regional and national networks and you have affinity with entrepreneurship within existing organizations. In addition, you are keen to apply this experience in an academic environment.


• You have a completed university degree, or have obtained this level through relevant work experience;
• You have 3-6 years of work experience; of which minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the field of financial investment, such as venture capital or private equity;
• You are a serious discussion and sparring partner for entrepreneurs, coaches, investors and others within the UNIIQ and alumni network;
• You are accessible, flexible and have great listening skills;
• You have affinity with entrepreneurship, for example as an entrepreneur, investor, business developer or (start-up) facilitator;
• You are fluent in Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing;
• An advantage: you have entrepreneurial experience.

Role

In your capacity as Investment Manager you will represent Erasmus Enterprise within the Investment Management Team of UNIIQ and report to the Fund Manager of UNIIQ. Here you will be dedicated to EUR related ventures. The Director of Erasmus Enterprise will be part of the Investment Committee of UNIIQ. Further, you will be working with the student board and Investment Committee within the Graduate Entrepreneur Fund. You advice and support the student board in the division of tasks, the processes, the deal flow & portfolio management. Since the student team will be changed yearly, you are responsible for the qualitative continuity of the activities. You will divide your time as follows: 80% for UNIIQ and 20% for the GEF within the Erasmus Enterprise location on the EUR campus.
You are responsible for guiding and advising EUR related and GEF eligible entrepreneurs in their search for early stage funding. You supervise funding applications, perform analyses, create reports and prepare and guide the decision-making process for the Investment Committees (UNIIQ and GEF). You manage the investments made, evaluate the performance and engage closely with stakeholders and founders. Being up to date of the latest developments in the relevant networks, you disseminate relevant information to the Investment Committees and our community of EUR entrepreneurs.


Through your experience and within your capacity, you create the necessary financial investment frameworks within which the EUR ventures can accelerate their growth. With this you ensure the implementation of the EUR social impact strategy through entrepreneurship and valorization of knowledge.

Erasmus Enterprise
Erasmus Enterprise is a recently established organization within the EUR that is responsible for building and supporting the entrepreneurship capabilities and facilities that are essential for realizing our mission to create positive societal impact. Erasmus Enterprise has three subsidiaries: Erasmus Center for Entrepreneurship (ECE), Erasmus Research and Business Support (ERBS) and YES!Delft. Each of them bears their own responsibility for business operations and the proper performance of their own task. Together they strengthen the entrepreneurial climate within the university and provide for the development of entrepreneurial skills, incubation and validation programs and support for start-ups emerging from the EUR.

UNIIQ
Erasmus Enterprise will partner with the UNIIQ investment fund (www.UNIIQ.nl) together with existing knowledge partners Erasmus MC, TU Delft, Leiden University and the regional development agency InnovationQuarter. UNIIQ is a regional early stage investment fund of Euro 22M focusing on highly innovative academic spin-offs, startups and existing SMEs. Through providing both capital and support, UNIIQ aims to bridge the gap from zero funding to a seed funding round, and from prototype to ready-to-launch product. So far, UNIIQ has invested in 42 companies covering a wide range of topics and technologies, from Hardt Hyperloop to Buddy Payment’s smart financial budgeting app. The UNIIQ team currently consists of a Business Analyst, a Management Assistant, a Fund Manager and 4 Investment Managers representing the knowledge partners.

Graduate Entrepreneur Fund
Together with the Erasmus Trust Fund, Erasmus Enterprise works closely on the newly established pre-seed fund: the Graduate Entrepreneur Fund (GEF). GEF is established together with EUR and TU Delft alumni to stimulate entrepreneurship amongst students in the Rotterdam/Delft region. The fund will be capitalized up to Euro 6M by private and public donations and administered by Erasmus Trust Fund. GEF is managed by a student board, consisting of 8 full-time students from Rotterdam and Delft. The student board’s main responsibility is deal flow. Alumni from EUR and TU Delft are available for coaching and mentoring. The collaboration between alumni and students from Rotterdam and Delft has the objective to create ventures with significant societal impact that are at
the intersection of technology and social sciences. The launch of the activities of the Graduate Entrepreneur Fund will be in Q1 2021.
