The current linear economy based on the unlimited extraction of limited resources and the accompanying high levels of pollution is unsustainable. The challenges posed by climate change, environmental degradation, overconsumption, waste and pollution require a re-orientation towards circularity. A circular economy, built on the regeneration of resources within and among businesses and industries, focuses on getting as much value as possible from existing resources and decoupling economic growth from resource extraction and pollution. National and international shifts from linear to circular economies signal new responsibilities and opportunities for businesses operating domestically and globally.

The position is affiliated with the research group Innovation & Entrepreneurship and the Amsterdam School of International Business (AMSIB), both part of the Faculty of Business & Economics of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS). AMSIB offers an International Business bachelor programme taught in English. Social responsibility, ethics, sustainability and circularity are hallmarks of the programme.

The Assistant Professor position requires:
Fixed-term contract: One year with possible extension to a tenure track period of 5 years thereafter.
This position initially offers a contract for a period of one year with possible extension to a tenure track period of 5 years thereafter. The position is based on salary scale 12 of the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO HBO). The gross salary per month is between € 4.445 - € 5.717, based on a full-time contract and dependent on education and experience.
The HvA has an extensive package of secondary employment conditions, including a generous vacation scheme and a 13th month.
