The School of Business and Economics (SBE) of Maastricht University offers a 4-year position for a PhD-candidate for students with a (Research) Master degree or equivalent, in the Department of Microeconomics and Public Economics.

In order to qualify, you must have successfully completed a Master’s degree (MSc or MPhil) in Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics, or a related area (preferably before July 2021, at the latest by September 2021) and have a good competence in written and spoken English. Graduation from a two-year Master’s programme (120 ECTS) and a quantitative background will be advantages.

In case one does not fulfil the starting requirement yet, sometimes a part-time pre-PhD position can be offered which allows time to catch up.

Fixed-term contract: 1,5+2,5.

Remuneration will be according to standard salary levels for PhD students starting with a salary of €2.395.- with a yearly growth to €3.061.- gross per month (based on a full-time appointment). Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

You have to be willing to move to (the vicinity of) Maastricht. If you do not already live in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), you will be eligible for an allowance for moving costs.
