Job description

For a project that aims to uncover the proximal intracellular signaling events of the myeloid inhibitory immunoreceptor SIRPa by advanced microscopic techniques, we are looking for a postdoctoral fellow.
You will join the group of prof. dr. Timo K. van den Berg that is focusing on the role of innate immune cells in immunotherapy of cancer and other diseases. Our laboratory was among the pioneering ones discovering that the interaction between CD47 expressed on cancer cells and SIRPa on phagocytes functions as an innate immune checkpoint that upon disruption can promote antibody-mediated destruction of cancer cells (Zhao XW et al. (2011) PNAS 108:18342–18347). With encouraging results from the first clinical trials using therapeutic agents targeting CD47-SIRPa in recent years this has now become one of the most exciting and rapidly expanding fields in cancer immunotherapy. You will work in a dynamic environment where both fundamental and translational research related to immunotherapy is being performed.
