Are you an enthusiastic, people-oriented contact broker? Ready to explore and develop new possibilities of Artificial Intelligence in preventive health?

Together with Eindhoven University of Technology, Utrecht University and UMC Utrecht, Wageningen University & Research (WUR) join forces in The Alliance, one of the focus areas being Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Health. The Alliance is established in 2019 and still in launching phase.

We are looking for a Liaison Officer who will represent WUR in this Alliance on the AI for Health domain. Considering health, WUR focuses on preventive health including environment, food safety and food production, consumer behavior, nutrition and health. Together with the liaison officers of the three partner institutes (TUe, UU and UMCU) you aim to gain a competitive position in the (inter-) national AI landscape for the Alliance:
  • map where scientific progress and innovation can be achieved together based on connecting to the expertise in the organization;
  • provide insight into opportunities and options for organizing projects and programs in research and education;
  • advocate groundbreaking, substantial, and iconic collaboration for internal and external partners,
  • support and coordinate researchers in their participation in this Alliance,
  • provide information for monitoring progress of the Alliance.
At WUR, you will be based with the Wageningen Data Competence Center, which is supporting and coordinating the efforts of WUR in the areas of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Requirements

Since the Alliance has just been launched we are looking for someone:
  • eager to explore the working field of AI for Health and WUR's contribution to the Alliance;
  • who has ideas on further development of the Alliance;
  • who does not perform research but contributes in initiating, supporting, and organizing a common research program;
  • willing to contribute to building a new team.
Given the focus area on AI for this position you need to:
  • have a MSc/PhD degree, background in life sciences and management experience;
  • have demonstrable expertise of AI and affinity with the health domain;
  • have an independent working attitude, and at the same time be a real team player (the team you will be working with consist of the team lead, four liaison officers of the four partner institutes and a business developer);
  • be able to build working networks;
  • be a strategic thinker;
  • have decision capacities;
  • be able to set together different stakeholders;
  • have commercial awareness;
  • have excellent communication, negotiation, collaborative and facilitation skills;
  • have the strong ability to work and communicate across boundaries/cultures;
  • be familiar with the WUR organization and its research areas;
  • have sufficient contacts and affinity within subject related groups of WUR.

Conditions of employment

A challenging position with, depending on your experience, a competitive salary from a minimum of €2.790,- to a maximum of €4.549,- for a full working week of 36 hours in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement Wageningen Research (scale 10). The position is initially for a period of one year, and for approximately 18 - 30 hours a week. We also offer:
  • 8% holiday allowance;
  • a structural end-of-year bonus of 3%;
  • excellent training opportunities and secondary employment conditions;
  • flexible working hours that we determine together in good consultation;
  • excellent pension plan through ABP;
  • 171 vacation hours, the possibility to purchase extra and good supplementary leave schemes;
  • the possibility to work a maximum of 40 hours per week and in this way build up a maximum of 204 compensation hours per year;
  • a flexible model to put together part of your employment conditions yourself, such as a bicycle plan;
  • make use of the sports facilities on campus for a small fee.
