Tilburg University Grant Support is looking for an enthusiastic grant advisor. Would you like to be intensively involved in various forms of funding and support scientists with applying for funding? Do you have good planning and organizational skills; do you have analytical skills and an eye for detail; are you able to keep a good overview and to stay calm and focused when a number of funding schemes are approaching their deadlines at the same time? Do you have experience with (online) teaching or giving training? Maybe you are our new Individual Grant Officer.

Job description

The tasks include the following aspects:

  • Making relevant funding schemes accessible for individual research projects on an international and national level. The emphasis here is on the individual research grants from NWO (national), ERC and the Marie Sklodowska Curie postdoctoral fellowships (both European).
  • Coordinating and specifically encouraging scientists to acquire individual research grants.
  • Ensuring a structured, adequate and timely supply of information to scientists in the field of individual research grants and organizing and giving/providing information meetings and training on the various grant schemes.
  • Monitoring eligibility of scientists for specific grants, i.e. identifying opportunities and matching. Work proactively with Research Support Teams, Vice Deans of Research and Heads of Departments to encourage scientists to apply for and obtain research grants.
  • Act as contact person for the main funding agencies and external companies that offer workshops/coaching with regards to research funding acquisition.
  • Reading and providing feedback on research proposals. You can efficiently and effectively translate the funding conditions of the specific funding scheme into concrete tips & tricks for scientists to improve their proposal. You also check the proposals for formal criteria that apply to the funding scheme in question. 
  • Procedural support for grant applications, monitoring of applicable deadlines and administrative assistance in filling in application forms.
  • Attend externally organized workshops and information meetings to keep up to date with the various funding schemes.

Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor or Master degree.  
  • Experience and/or demonstrable affinity with applying for or supporting (research) grants. 
  • Affinity with academic research.
  • Excellent social and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English and Dutch.
  • A proactive, stimulating attitude; stress-resistance; the ability to work under time pressure. 
  • Organizational skills; the ability to work systematically, effectively and efficiently. 

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

It concerns a function for 0.8 - 1 fte. We offer a year's employment with the prospect of an indefinite contract of employment. The gross monthly salary depends on, among other things, age and relevant experience and amounts to a maximum of € 4.402 for a full-time employment contract (UFO position: Policy Officer, level 4 / scale 10). In addition, the university has excellent employment conditions, such as a good study facilities scheme and the possibility to determine your employment conditions partly individually by means of a so-called choice model.
