The research group Childhood Cancer Epidemiology and Outcomes is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated postdoctoral researcher who excels in a stimulating, multi-disciplinary research environment.
The research group Childhood Cancer Epidemiology and Outcomes is a new research group at the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology and is focused on monitoring trends in childhood cancer and advancing knowledge on care and survival disparities with the aim to guide care management, care initiatives and future research efforts. The uniqueness of this research is that outcomes have the potentials to be directly implemented in clinical practice improving the prognosis of children with cancer. The research is based on large population-based registry data supplemented with extensive information from clinical trials and biological samples.
We currently have an opening for a postdoctoral researcher to participate in our research efforts and to write grant proposals and obtain funding for new research projects on sarcomas and rare childhood cancers in collaboration with clinicians and other researchers.
Your mission
The successful candidate is expected to conduct epidemiologic research focused on childhood cancer. The candidate will write grants to set up new research lines. Other tasks and responsibilities will be statistical analyses of population-based registry data, writing scientific publications and presenting results at (international) conferences.
We stress scientific expertise, experience with epidemiological methods and research as well as competence within cancer epidemiology when assessing applicants. We see that the candidate has the following qualifications:
Other meritorious competences are experience with statistical software SAS, Stata and/or R. The applicant will need to feel comfortable with working in teams and demonstrate good interpersonal skills and be independent enough to formulate new hypotheses and critically examine the results.
Fixed-term contract: One year with the option of extension.
A post-doc position (32-36 hours a week) initially for one year with the option of extension. You will be working in a creative, inspiring and cross-disciplinary research environment. Your gross monthly salary will depend on experience and background with a maximum of EUR 4.798,- (scale 60). The Princess Máxima Center operates according to the collective labour agreement ‘cao algemene ziekenhuizen’.
The Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology is a research hospital concentrating healthcare, research and education with regard to cancer in children in a single location in Utrecht. The institute aims to provide the highest level of care for all children with cancer and has the ambition to cure all children of cancer and significantly reduce unwanted side effects. The center brings together the best possible care and scientific research, creating a unique interdisciplinary institute for pediatric oncology in Europe.
