The Department of History and Art History seeks to appoint two Lecturers in Political History, with a focus on modern and/or contemporary Europe, for a fixed term of 4 years. Candidates are expected to teach on a wide range of subjects in the BA programme in History, including those beyond their own direct expertise; they may also be asked to teach in the MA programme History of Politics and Society. In addition to contributing to the History programme, they are also expected to teach in the interdisciplinary Bachelor's programme Politics Philosophy and Economics. The position does not include research time.

Utrecht University has a teaching qualification system for University Lecturers, and candidates are required to obtain the Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO) within two years if they are not already in possession of one. Candidates are expected to be proficient in both Dutch and English; non-Dutch speaking candidates will need to master the Dutch language on an academic level within two years.
We offer a temporary position (0.7 FTE) for a period of four years. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience - ranges between €2,790 and €5,127 (scale 10-11 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year.
