Job description

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science is investing significantly in modernizing the education it offers, as the number of students continues to grow. This includes the implementation of effective tools in education, creation of new tools, the integration of new platforms, and other new ways for students to interact with the course materials.

We are looking for an enthusiastic instructional designer to help design and develop the learning experience of students with the support of tooling. These educational tools are aimed at providing formative feedback, engaging students with the materials and building learning communities to support the process of acquiring new knowledge and skills. We envision that the newly developed tools like WebLab, skill circuits, and Labrador will play an important role in the re-engineering of the instructional design.

In this position you will:

  • Design and re-engineer the set-up of existing courses together with teachers, possibly making use of the newly acquired/developed educational tooling;
  • Engage in educational innovation by analyzing the set-up and design of existing courses and proposing improvements;
  • Participate in the development of online learning capabilities;
  • Advise staff about ways to increase educational quality;
  • Work closely together with the Director of Studies, our Educational Innovation Project group, that develops innovational educational tooling, and educational advisors from Education & Student Affairs (ESA).

Department

Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) brings together three disciplines - electrical engineering, mathematics and computer science. Combined, they reinforce each other and are the driving force behind the technology we use in our daily lives. Technology such as the electricity grid, which our faculty is helping to make future-proof. We are also working on a world in which humans and computers reinforce each other. We are mapping out disease processes using single cell data, and using mathematics to simulate gigantic ash plumes after a volcanic eruption. There is plenty of room here for ground-breaking research. We educate innovative engineers and have excellent labs and facilities that underline our strong international position. In total, more than 1,100 employees and 4,000 students work and study in this innovative environment.
