Job description

As this is a unique joint position for Saxion in collaboration with Frauenhofer Project Center at the University of Twente, we offer a position as a Researcher for 50% at Saxion and for 50% at Fraunhofer Project Center. The employment is for one year, contracted by Saxion University of Applied Science, with a possibility of extension.

Team-composition  The research group of mechatronics at Saxion is the largest research group, in which applied research and innovative solutions are developed in the research programs of Unmanned Robotic Systems and Smart Industrial Systems, with specialisations in sensing &perception, control &manipulation, and cognition &AI. Together with the regional and (inter)national partners,  the group develops innovative, impactful and applicable technologies and technological solutions based on the latest scientific insights. The research group is active in several projects involving  more than 65 public and private partners. Currently, the research group employees more than 26 research engineers and more 300 students are involved in the running projects annually.

Your challenges

We are looking for a lead systems engineer for industrial Robotics who has a pragmatic and pro active approach towards new technologies, methodologies and solutions in the domain of industry 4.0. You are industry focused, which means that you know and understand the customers in your specific domain. You understand their challenges, needs and you can establish a good relationship with them.

Then this may be the job for you:

  • design and develop a variety of applications for robotics, AGV and vision technology
  • develop working Proof-of-Concepts & prototypes (demonstrators)
  • maintain the technical aspect of the developed robots and controllers
  • provide input in defining new projects around the topic of industrial automation (robotics, vision and AGV)

Requirements

Your Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master level; verifiable by education or years of experience in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or electronics
  • Knowledge in system decomposition and interfacing
  • Expertise in Python and/or C++
  • Experience in developing Robotics and AGV prototypes
  • Experience with ROS (robotic operating system)
  • Knowledge of software package; Matlab, Simulink, SolidWorks

Your characteristics:

  • An expert in Systems & Robotic engineering
  • An expert in Automation
  • Capable in understanding of real time OS (operating systems for industrial applications) configuration and network communication
  • Experienced in vision technology
  • Able to communicate in both Dutch and English (written and oral)

Conditions of employment

As this is a unique joint position for Saxion in collaboration with Frauenhofer Project Center at the University of Twente, we offer a position as an Engineer for 50% at Saxion and for 50% at Fraunhofer Project Center. The employment is for one year, contracted by Saxion University of Applied Science, with a possibility of extension. Depending on your knowledge and experience, the salary is maximum € 5026 (pay scale 11 - cao HBO) at a full-time working week. In addition, you receive 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% end of year bonus.
