Job description

This vacancy is positioned in the section ‘Materializing Futures’ of the Sustainable Design Engineering Department. The section of Materializing Futures (MF) aims at developing theories, tools, and methods to empower future designers in understanding and designing with emerging material and fabrication technologies in the interest of the planet and society. Our research activities are organized under three interconnected pillars: Materials, Fabrication, and Computational Design.

As the assistant professor in Digital Fabrication for Product Design, your research will be at the crossovers of computational design, materials science, engineering, and product design. You are expected to integrate these in an interdisciplinary approach to deliver the theoretical and practical breakthroughs that shape future products, maximising the potentials of emerging materials, computational design and digital fabrication. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on the 4d printing, which uses sophisticated designs and emerging animate materials that are programmed to endow 3D printed products with active, adaptive, and autonomous behaviour.
