To strengthen our team, we are hiring a Spatial Data Infrastructure specialist. In this ambitious role you will contribute to the development of ISRIC's Spatial Data Infrastructure and to a number of ongoing projects, such as ISRIC's World Soil Information Service (WoSIS), SoilGrids and the Global Soil Information System (GLoSIS). In our team you will have the opportunity to further advance your passion for information and data management.

The most important tasks in this role are:

• Deployment of OSGeo suite into Kubernetes clusters
• Development of REST API
• Programming and server administration tasks
• Administering Linux systems
• Support and develop new ideas for improving workflows within ISRIC projects
• Support ISRICs technical cooperation with national soil information institutes and global institutions, such as FAO.

• MSc degree (or higher) in computer sciences, geoinformatics, or in environmental sciences with good demonstrable experience on the job topics.
• Experience using OSGeo suite and FOSS4G applications, such as: GeoNetwork, GeoServer/MapServer, PostGIS
• Proficiency in using and administrating Linux Operating System
• Experience with application containerization (Docker) and deployment on Kubernetes clusters and on cloud infrastructures
• Good understanding of OGC web service standards: WMS, WFS, WCS, WCS and the OGC API family of standard (Rest API)
• Programming skills using Python or R;
• Experience in developing Rest API and microservices architectures (preferably with Python);
• Communication skills to support you and ISRIC clients to deliver the necessary products or results;
• Proficiency in spoken and written English

It would be beneficial but not required to also have these skills:

• Geo-computational skills using R/Python/shell scripting with OSGeo software (raster and vector operations);
• Experience with parallel programming, HPC processing, cloud computation;
• JavaScript development especially using Vue.js and NodeJS frameworks
• Working knowledge of Dutch

A challenging role in an international working environment with a diverse, experienced and motivated team at a renowned institute based on the campus of Wageningen University. You will be embedded in larger team of software developers connected to the Environmental Science Group of WUR, strongly focusing on IT innovations for environmental challenges.

Furthermore, we offer, depending on your experience, a competitive salary from a minimum of € 3491 to a maximum of € 5127 based on a full-time appointment (38 hours per week) in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities (scale 10-11).
