Job description

You will be part of the European Politics and Society (EPS) chair group, a team aiming at excellence in teaching and research. You will teach courses on European Politics and Society, predominantly within the interdisciplinary European Languages and Cultures (ELC) BA programme. This includes, among other things, teaching seminars in BA1 survey courses (Studying Europe, European Politics and Society, European (Dis)Integration), teaching BA2 research seminars (in English and Dutch), teaching courses on Dutch politics and society in Dutch to non-native speakers of Dutch, teaching the politics section of interdisciplinary courses on contemporary European culture, politics, linguistics, moderating and teaching theory-oriented courses at BA3 level, and supervising BA and MA thesis students. At the MA level, the EPS chair group is involved in the track European Politics in a Global Perspective in the MA International Relations. The chair group concentrates on European political theory, comparative political systems, and political cultures - and the ways they operate in a broader societal context, from a theoretical and empirical/historical perspective. Research by the lecturer will be conducted under the auspices of the Groningen Research Institute for the Study of Culture (ICOG) and its Research Centre for the Study of Democratic Cultures and Politics.
